DESCRIPTION:THE ALL-STAR CLASSIC FOOTBALL GAME HULA BOWL IS BACK! January 26th at Aloha Stadium at 5:30 PM.\nStarting in 1960\, the Hula Bowl game was established as an All-Star game that would only invite NCAA college players from schools across the US. The teams were divided into two teams\, one team from those colleges located in the Eastern and Western United States. The teams were then split into “Aina and Kai ” teams\, the Hawaiian words for Land and Water. \nFollowing this strongly supported return\, the game will be featured in January each year on the island of Oahu. This year\, the game will include NCAA college football players from all divisions\, along with international players from Japan\, Canada\, Australia\, and the UK. In addition\, the game will always include Polynesian players with historic ties to the Islands.

Since this race is in February\, don’t forget to look for whales as you go over Diamond Head – prime part of the whale watching season. This races honors a legendary runner and coach here in Hawaii. DESCRIPTION:The Kailua 10-Miler starts at the Boys & Girls Club\, 145 Kainalu Drive\, and goes around Enchanted Lake\, out to Lanikai and back. The 5K is out and back along the same course. The 1-Mile Fun Run will go through a beautiful Kailua neighborhood. The Fun Run will not be timed. Although this is not a new race\, it is a new course. This is a nice flat course – no big hill at the end! \nOur Partner for this event is the Hawaii State 4-H Program\, helping young people\, ages 5 – 19\, develop life skills and form positive attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing\, productive\, and contributing members of society.

DESCRIPTION:The City and County of Honolulu along with the Hawaii Bicycling League\, announced the launch of Kalākaua Open Street Sundays. For four consecutive Sundays\, beginning June 14\, bicyclists\, joggers\, and walkers will be able to travel down Kalākaua Avenue in Waikīkī to enjoy outdoor exercise while promoting one of the simplest ways to lower our environmental footprint with other members of our island ‘ohana. \nThis is Honolulu’s version of an Open Street Initiative\, similar to “Slow” or “Open” streets in other cities\, adapted to the realities of the Covid-19 pandemic. These streets\, usually bumper to bumper with motor vehicles\, are being opened for more people-focused activities such as biking\, jogging\, or walking. With the decrease in vehicular traffic on the roadways and minimal tourism\, Kalākaua Open Street Sundays will also help reconnect kamaʻāina and merchants along Kalākaua Avenue.
