Lana Del Rey has officially stepped into the world of James Bond, surprising fans with the release of “First Light,” the theme song for the upcoming video game 007 First Light.
The track, created alongside renowned composer David Arnold—known for scoring multiple Bond films—blends Del Rey’s signature atmospheric style with classic elements of the franchise’s sound. The result is a dramatic, cinematic piece featuring sweeping instrumentation and subtle nods to the iconic Bond theme.
In a statement, IO Interactive praised the collaboration, saying, “It’s a joy to watch two extraordinary talents like Lana Del Rey and David Arnold combine forces, the result feels instantly ‘Bond’ while still bringing a fresh identity for 007 First Light.”
Arnold also emphasized the importance of music in the Bond legacy, stating, “The music of James Bond has always been a huge part of its identity. A title song has to tell us about the world we are about to enter into. It has to intrigue, excite, and beckon us in. This song joins a long line of genre defining songs, each one creating a benchmark of style that adds to the magnificent heritage that is ‘The Bond Song’. That’s why I was so excited to work with Lana, an artist who brought elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character to this piece, which I hope will open the world of Bond to a whole new audience.”
Developed by IO Interactive—best known for the ‘Hitman series’—the 007 First Light game presents “a fully original, reimagined origin story” of the famous spy. It follows a 26-year-old James Bond at the very start of his MI6 career. Actor Patrick Gibson leads the cast as a younger Bond, joined by Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz, who plays a new villain. Additional cast members include Priyanga Burford, Lennie James, Alastair Mackenzie, Kiera Lester, and Noémie Nakai.
The game marks the first Bond video game release since 2012’s 007 Legends and is set to launch on May 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC after a slight delay from its original date.
